After just one weekend with two replacement sim racing events, the FOM-the madlads—have decided to run as many races on Codemasters’ F 1 2019 as they can untik the season comes back to normal.

Thing is, this sort of event will be the ultimate test-bed for the game, and can provide valuable information about where to improve for 2021/2022. After all, mods for Assetto Corsa still simulate these cars better than Codies can.

Even though it’s not an ideal game to be using I’ll still watch it. I wish we had more of the actual grid racing, maybe have one driver from each team along with a sim racer as a teammate. Swap official drivers for each “grand prix” and randomize assignment of sim racer teammates.

To be fair Codemasters isn’t trying to accurately simulate the cars because accurate F1 cars are brutal to drive and would alienate all but the most hardcore sim racers. Codies aims for fun and accessible while feeling like it could be accurate to casual racers.

Fair take , and I’m happy to have that. But with the lengths they take with the other gameplay components, I reckon the physics and damage model should at least be reflective and on par with the R&D and driver development. Not total realism like the RSS mods for Assetto (which is a question Codi es’ playerbase should be asking—do you guys seriously want RSS-level simulation in this? Do you?) , but just about close enough.
Oh, and penalties too. Like WTF, mate, it’s all over the place.
